Milda Mitkutė co-founded Vinted in Vilnius, Lithuania, in 2008 with Justas Janauskas. The idea began with a relatable problem: an overflowing closet. Moving to Vilnius, Milda realized she owned too many clothes to bring along and wanted them to go to good use. Her solution was an online platform where friends could see and claim clothes she was giving away. Needing technical help, she pitched the idea to Justas at a party, and he agreed to build it. What started as a site for her friend circle soon drew major media attention and became an instant hit in Lithuania. It expanded to Germany in 2009, and the founders grew it into a global company. Vinted now operates in over 20 markets, employs more than 2,000 people, and is led by Group CEO Thomas Plantenga.
