Laurent Sifre graduated from École des Ponts et Chaussées and École Polytechnique in 2010. He earned a PhD in Applied Mathematics from École Polytechnique in 2014, under the supervision of Professor Stéphane Mallat. In 2013, he interned at Google Brain, and in 2014, he joined DeepMind as a Research Scientist, where he spent nine years contributing to a range of groundbreaking projects. His work played a key role in major advancements such as AlphaGo, AlphaFold, AlphaStar, and Google’s large language models including Chinchilla, RETRO, Gemma, and Gemini. In early 2024, Laurent left Google to co-found H Company, where he now serves as Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
