Dr Yishu Miao is the Co-founder and CEO of Haiper, a London-based video-generative AI platform who are training a powerful, proprietary perceptual foundation model for visual creation. Users can use Haiper to generate image and animated video content from written prompts, turn images into videos, and upscale the quality of existing videos. Haiper, which has raised $19.8M to date, is backed by major VCs such as Octopus Ventures. Dr Miao previously led the London ML team building large language models (LLMs) for Global Trust & Safety at TikTok. As Tech Lead Manager, Dr Miao defined and drove the technical vision, strategy and roadmap to continuously improve the quality, efficiency and security of systems that aim to keep the platform’s 1.7 billion users safe from harmful or abusive content.

Dr Miao, who has a PhD in Machine Learning from Oxford University, on generative language models, has delivered publications covering Machine Learning, Language, Vision and Robotics at top-tier conferences. He was also a postdoctoral scholar at Imperial College London, focused on developing a large multi-modal model.
