Ian Hogarth is Partner at Plural, the early-stage investment fund that backs the most ambitious founders on a mission to change the world through technology, where he’s led investments in Proxima Fusion (developing fusion power plants based on the stellarator concept) and Unitary (context-aware AI to detect harmful content and keep platforms safe), among other companies.
Previously, Ian co-founded Songkick, where he served as CEO and scaled the business to 12 million monthly users. He is the chair of Phasecraft, the leading quantum software start-up, and was a prolific angel investor prior to joining Plural. In addition to being a Visiting Professor at UCL and co-author of the annual State of AI report, Ian is Chair of the AI Safety Institute, following his part-time role chairing the UK government’s £100M taskforce to invest in state capacity around AI safety.
