Kia is a longtime San Francisco-based journalist covering venture capital, startups, and Silicon Valley. She was most recently a senior reporter at Axios, which she joined as one of its earliest employees in 2017, and was a co-author of its popular dealmaking-focused newsletter, Pro Rata. Before that, she was a reporter at Fortune Magazine covering the “on-demand economy,” and started her career at VentureBeat writing about startups. She has a bachelor’s degree in Political Economy from the University of California, Berkeley, where she was a columnist at its student newspaper, The Daily Californian.
