Maria Smith is a seasoned product leader, having supported teams of 10, 100, 1000+ and having scaled many products from 0 to 1 and from 1 to 100. Maria currently serves as the Chief Product & Technology Officer at Personio, an HR tech company with an ambitious mission to unlock the power of people for SMEs. At Personio, Maria leads the functions – from product to engineering to design to product operations and compliance – that come together to build Personio’s product and tech and deliver market-leading solutions to customers. Prior to that, Maria spent close to a decade at Meta where she was VP of Product and General Manager for some of the largest consumer marketplaces and products such as Facebook Groups (2B+ users, 70M+ community builders), Events, Profile, and Search. Prior to that, she led the Facebook App Monetization team and its portfolio of products, launching and scaling many successful products and driving billions of dollars in revenue. Maria holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Michigan where she was a Fulbright scholar and a bachelor’s degree in Economics, Operations & Marketing from the Athens University of Economics and Business in Greece. A native of Greece, Maria regularly travels across the U.S. and Europe and currently resides in Munich with her husband, Tom, and their two children.
