Milda Mitkute is Co-founder of Vinted. The business was founded in Vilnius, Lithuania, back in 2008, by Milda Mitkutė and Justas Janauskas. Vinted started as a solution to a very relatable personal problem, one that we still help our members solve today – an overflowing closet. Milda was about to move from her hometown in Lithuania to Vilnius, the capital city. She realised she owned too many clothes and that there was no point bringing them all with her. The clothes needed to be put to good use. The solution she came up with was creating an online platform where her friends could see the clothes she was giving away and choose the ones they’d like to take. Vinted launched as a website for a small circle of Milda’s friends, but word soon got out and the idea received an overwhelming amount of media attention in Lithuania. It became an instant hit in Lithuania. In 2009, it was extended to Germany and later the 2 founders created their own company and started expanding it even more internationally. Vinted now operates in over 20 markets. It counts over 2000 employees and is now led by Vinted’s Group CEO, Thomas Plantenga.
