Ravi Mattu is the managing editor of DealBook at The New York Times. He joined the paper in 2022 from the Financial Times, where he held a number of senior roles. He served as the paper’s deputy Asia news editor based in Hong Kong, where he helped oversee coverage of the city’s pro-democracy protests in 2019, the Covid pandemic and the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. He also worked as the FT’s technology, media and telecoms editor, acting editor of the weekend magazine and editor of the management section. Prior to joining the FT, he worked at Prospect Magazine after starting his career at Harper’s Magazine.
